All management aspirants come to B Schools with their own dreams and goals. Students realize, often early in their PGDM programs, whether those goals are going to be met. Shreya, student of Batch 2016 – 18 at KIAMS remains certain that her B School has been offering her the best platform from day 1. In a short span of time she has noticed a huge transformation in her as she has come into her own. She takes us through her journey at the institute that has made her aware of her true potential that she can’t wait to tap into as a professional in the future.
“I think students from all over the country come here because of the brand name attached to the institute. That was a big appeal for me as well, so you can say it was a calculated decision on my part to join KIAMS.
When you have to live up to the legacy of a name like Kirloskar, you have to make sure everything at the institute is spot on. That’s something I noticed as soon as I got here, from classroom facilities to faculty members; they are the best.
The legacy of the name is automatically soaked in by us students as well, and that’s a very good thing. That’s because it makes us we feel responsible for keeping the name flying high and motivates us to do our best in any career path we choose.
KIAMS is a major cultural hub as there are students from all over the country on campus. Things are always lively and you get to know so much from students from diverse backgrounds. I think that’s been one of the highlights of learning here for me so far.
Of course, KIAMS has a frequently updated curriculum that strives to make us industry ready. But it’s not just about learning of management concepts and theories. We are constantly learning about the world around us, the society and our responsibilities towards it as well.
I look forward to our Personality Development classes in particular because they have been designed for our overall growth as an individual. My communication skills have improved in a short time and I feel more confident about expressing myself.
I am a Placement Representative and that brings more responsibility on my shoulders. I work on tasks like getting live projects for students and working with teams for SIPs and final placements. It has taught me to take initiatives and be driven, which in itself is a huge accomplishment in a short time at the institute.”
