Nikhil Ingle, an engineer from Bhopal had already gained two years of work experience, but he wanted to take things to a whole new level. He believed being associated with a top brand would help him scale greater heights of success. That’s the reason he enrolled for the PGDM program at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies, a B School he had heard a lot about. He wasn’t to be disappointed as he started his second innings in the corporate world with placement with a reputed brand like Coffee Day Global Ltd. Here’s Nikhil talking about his career reboot.
Day zero of placement season
Nikhil admits that placement at KIAMS was one of the main reasons he picked the B School, and the current season lived up to his expectations. Several top recruiters offered students interesting roles in sales, digital media, advertising and other fields based on their interests. He was the first student to be placed from Pune campus. “KIAMS actively conducted mock GDs and Interviews that helped me a lot to gain the confidence to perform in front of the panel. The placement team was always around to help me out whenever I needed them,” he reflects.
Days leading up to the placements
Nikhil started consolidating his preparation for the placements right from the internship period. He paid due attention to body language and the way he answered questions in front of the recruiters to make the best impression. “The nature of learning at KIAMS is such that you are always informed about what is happening in the business world. This knowledge of current affairs is crucial to doing well during the placement interview. Our moral was boosted and kept high until the last day of placements,” he says.
Early days of grooming
According to Nikhil, what sets learning at KIAMS apart from other management institutes is that you are constantly stimulated and encouraged to think out of the box. He mentions role plays, case studies and real time projects that offered students firsthand knowledge of the market and the corporate world. “The corporate experience of our faculty members meant that classroom learning always had real world relevance. Then there were industry interaction sessions, which helped us choose the stream we might want to specialize and work in,” he adds.
Fast forward to the future
Nikhil is of the opinion that since during the last two years he was enabled to be an independent thinker, he will be a fast learner with his organization as well. He looks forward to his professional journey with the brand that has instant connect with the youngsters all over the country. “My job is a hard core sales job with responsibilities of business development to map the existing clients and nurture the distributors associated with the company. It’s an exciting role and I couldn’t have asked for a better restart for my career,” he ends with a smile.
