Rs. 3000 as seed money and a business idea got to be laid down with it- of course, not everyone’s cup of tea! Quite herculean and daunting a task indeed! Karobar 2017, an initiative of Entrepreneurship Cell of Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies (KIAMS) saw students take the challenge up. “Fun Zone” was born when Amit Khunteta, Ayush Audichya, Haval Karan Mukund, Neha Agarwal, Praveen Prajapati, Sayan Ghosh, Thakur Abhishek Chandan put their heads together.
“We had to do everything to ensure money is not wasted. We hitchhiked on the back of trucks, took autos to the market to bring products, had insane fun and made fabulous memories” and that’s how Fun Zone became a reality. KIAMS being a hub of young students, a game venture could never fail. Fun Zone took the experience a notch higher for students by bringing them the opportunity to have tangible prizes through games like “Bottoms Up and Luck By Dice”. Result? A profit of Rs.1811 was made on 23rd and 24th August, 2017.
Did these aspiring entrepreneurs of KIAMS get to put the Management theories to practice? Of course, Karobar helped them understand competition, draw sell strategies, work in team, fine-tune raw ideas, learn from the competitor and excel. To ensure that they were putting their best step forward, the team relied on the unique strengths of its team members. They did SWOT analysis and they remained focused on the goal of having the best possible outcome while showing all ‘consumers’ a good time. They clearly seemed to have done that while surmounting various challenges.
So what is the “Fun Zone” team meaning to do with the profit? “A part of it will be given to an NGO for the blind and we aim to buy a domain name to operate an online website from the rest of the money. Karobar has gotten us started in the right direction and we want to go head,” they add enthusiastically.
