B.Com graduate Chhavi Saini knew that if she wanted to boost her career prospects, she would have to do her MBA from a reputable B-School. The reputation and backing of an industrial house like Kirloskar made her choose KIAMS. For her, it has been a decision that paid off dividends, not only because she got placed with a renowned firm like HDFC Mutual Funds, but also since she has been transformed into a confident professional with a promising future ahead of her. Here, the student of PGDM Batch 2015 – 17 talks about the journey that brought her to this exciting phase of her life.
Faculties as mentors
As Chhavi looks back on her experience at the B-School, she remembers the emotional, nervous youngster who made her way to the campus. She is grateful for the contribution of her faculty members, who groomed and supported her every step of the way. “Besides the permanent team, there are many who are visiting faculty members. But they are all so invested in the growth of students that they take extra efforts for each one of us. They focus on practical aspects of learning so that we are prepared for the corporate challenges we will face,” she says, filled with gratitude.
Making Finance count
Chhavi admits that Finance has been her favorite stream and KIAMS ensured that she found an SIP suited to her interests. She interned with Geojit BNP Paribas where her task was to sell Mutual Funds. It was a huge learning experience, and more importantly in keeping with the job profile her recruiters offered her. “I have joined the company as a Sales Trainee and I couldn’t have asked for a better preparation for my career. I want to stay with the company for a couple of years and make a career in Mutual Funds,” she adds confidently.
Memories to treasure
As Chhavi is set to spread her wings and aims for the skies, she knows that her foundation will always be KIAMS. It’s the place where she came into her own, gained in confidence and also made friends who will be with her for life. There are many emotional moments and memories that run through her mind as she says goodbye to her beloved campus. “These memories will always remain special and be treasured. I would ask my juniors to focus on academics but also live up the experience of a lifetime that you get at KIAMS,” she ends on a high note.
